| The
Reflection
The
Adventures of TobyŠ Puppy
Toby, that wishes to be addressed as King Toby, is under five months old
and still doesn't understand the reflection he sees of himself in the
mirror. So you can imagine the shock that Toby had when he approached an
aluminum candy wrapper that I had laid on the end table. Sniffing first
with his nose, his eyes widened and fear set in when suddenly before him
was a reflection of his face. Creeping ever so slowly again towards the
wrapper only to jumping back with a bark that contained more fear than
ferociousness. The
first thought that hit me was "be sure yours sins will find you
out!" But after recovering from the amusement, I thought about how
often we approach the word of God in the same manner. God's word reflects
who and what we are and sometimes the picture we see is shocking. We
all have a self-image of ourselves that usually isn't true. In some cases
some perceive themselves as worthless and no good while others see
themselves as better than they are. The true image of who we are is
reflected in the pages of scripture. We are certainly not worthless. Jesus
gave his life for us and God loves us. But! We certainly are not perfect
and the Bible reflects clearly those flaws as well. There
is one big difference however - The longer we look into the Bible the more
we become like "The Word!" - Pastor JIM You may use this devotional in non-profit newsletters or bulletins if you include this tag "Used with the permission of Net 153 Publication www.net153.com" Return to Devotional
